Starlink On Sunday,  announced that it is now live across over 300 islands in the Republic of Fiji, making it the 99th country, territory, and market that is using Starlink.

“Starlink is now live across the 300+ islands in the Republic of Fiji, marking the 99th country, territory or market around the world where Starlink’s high-speed internet service is available,” Starlink said.

The announcement came hours after Starlink was launched in Indonesia. Starlink was introduced at three Indonesian health centers on Sunday: one on the isolated island of Aru in Maluku and two in Bali.

Elon Musk, the CEO of X and founder of SpaceX, flew in for the launch ceremony at a community health center in Denpasar, the provincial capital, before arriving by private jet on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali.

During the launch, a video presentation was shown that demonstrated how fast the internet allowed data to be entered in real time to address health issues including malnourishment and stunting.

Elon commented in a post about the launch of Starlink in Indonesia, saying, “Honored to launch @Starlink in Indonesia!”

According to Starlink Across more than 17,000 islands, Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet is available in Indonesia.

On May 14, 2024, Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), the world’s largest cruise company, announced that 100% of its ships across the global fleet are equipped with Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency global internet connectivity.

Starlink said it has been installed on 200+ cruise ships around the world, with many more set to come online soon to keep their passengers and crews connected with high-speed internet while on rivers and at sea.
